Here’s the story, I noted earlier that I am not a Facebook expert. It just happens to be a great traffic tool for me.
And let me be straight with you, in anticipation of these few Facebook posts I have been planning, I have been researching using Facebook for business a lot. The results: I cannot find anything that is super enticing above and beyond what I am currently doing on Facebook.
Let me explain. I like Facebook, I really do, but Twitter is blowing it away when it comes to driving traffic for my online business. Sure, I spend some time on the site, I try to connect with people but that doesn’t get me traffic. My Facebook traffic is coming from my RSS Twitter feed that is feeding my Facebook account.
As it turns out, Facebook is not going to get you that quick traffic that you can get from a few weeks of effort on Twitter. I think that Facebook is about being genuine and transparent. It’s about building relationships with people. Facebook is not about scoring customers. Sure, that is a great by-product of your efforts but it can’t be your focus.
To be successful on Facebook you have to take time, be genuine and build relationships. It takes a lot of work but your return on time invested is long term. You have ti understand that it does not happen overnight.
Now, it can be a traffic driver, but with Twitter as the driving force. That Twitter feed can also help you to build some relationships by attracting people to your Facebook pages so you benefit twofold.
As you grow your presence on Facebook it is good to add some product information and even an email signup form to your account. But making those two things your sole purpose for being on Facebook can easily backfire on you. As I grow my Facebook presence I will keep you posted.
For now, I recommend www.allfacebook.com as a great Facebook resource and I definitely recommend getting your Twitter feed incorporated into your Facebook pages. If your Twitter efforts are stroong you will reap benefits from the Facebook community using this tactic.
If you agree or disagree with my thoughts here, let me know by leaving a comment below. I am very interested about hearing your stories about how you use Facebook to drive traffic to your business!
