internet-business-plan-5Alright everybody, what a few weeks it’s been!  So far, we have talked a lot about goals and your internet business plan.  We’ve talked a lot about obstacles and we’ve identified a lot of negative things that are preventing us from achieving our goals.

Last time we were together I discussed a little bit about one of my business goals and the obstacles that I identified that were not allowing me to work towards my business goals effectively.

If you recall, I outlined for you a lot of the obstacles that I identified that were in the way of my quest towards my goal.  They were things that I needed to be doing well but just wasn’t.  And, to be honest, one of the things that I haven’t been doing that’s preventing me from getting to my end game a little quicker is devoting time to this blog!  I’ve put a lot of time into the design but I haven’t been sharing as much information with everybody out there as I would like.  I’m finally starting to get into a little bit of a routine but let’s not get off on a tangent here.  Let’s talk more about these obstacles you’ve identified.

I want to tell you a little bit about how I’ve organized my goals, my obstacles and what I’ve done to use these obstacles to motivate me to do what I need to do to achieve the goals I’ve identified.  Whew, that was a mouthful!

So, why not get into whatever spreadsheet program that you have.  Whether it’s Excel or a spreadsheet in open office, launch that puppy and let’s start a new workbook.

Across the top of the first three columns, type in “Goals”, “Obstacles” and “Objectives”.

I took the three major goals that I identified that would help me achieve my ideal life.  One was my number, or is my number I should say, and is the amount of money I want to be producing on a monthly basis.  The second is my personal development goal.  What I need to do myself to help grow this business.  And third is my personal goal which is tied to my family and my personal obligations.

What I want you to do is, under the goal column, I want you to list your first goal.  What’s your number? Where do you want to be and how long do you want to take to get there?

Then, in the column to the right, your obstacles column, list all of the obstacles that are preventing you from achieving your goal.  What do you need to be doing but you aren’t?  What is it that is standing in your way?  Example, for me, was not having an organized workspace.  So when it comes to your business it may be that you don’t have a website.  Or, it may be that you don’t have your report written?   May be you don’t have a marketing system in place.  And it may be that you don’t have an email capture tool on your website.

I want you to repeat this exercise a second and a third time.  I want you to cover the three goals that we talked about previously.

Tonight, after going through these three goals and all of your obstacles, you’re probably overwhelmed.  You may even feel surrounded with negativity.

But don’t let it get you down!

If you remember, that last column says OBJECTIVE.  What I want you to do is to take all of these negative obstacles you’ve identified and I want you to rewrite each and every one of them as an objective that you can use to help you take a step towards your identified goal.

Take that negative, turn it into a positive and create a road map of what you need to do to get to your goal.

Take your time, walk through this exercise and when you get a chance leave me some feedback here and let me know if you have a better grasp on the things you need to do to be successful and to achieve your goals!
